home sweet hope

Help a child thrive in foster care. Volunteer.

Our Mission at New Mexico Kids Matter is to advocate for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering community volunteers to speak up for them in the foster care system.

Our CASA Volunteers serve as a person they can count on for compassion, guidance, advocacy, and information.

Help Give a Child a Voice.

Get Involved Today! We are not just advocates, but problem-solvers who work with children in foster care to ensure their needs are being met and their voices are being heard.

What does a CASA Volunteer do?

Court Appointed Special Advocate

CASA volunteers are people from all backgrounds and professions who commit to understanding the life and unique needs of a child or sibling group, attend court hearings related to the case, and make recommendations to the Judge about their best interests.

Who Can Help

Become a Volunteer

Our volunteer advocates come from every walk of life and share a commitment to improving children’s lives, a willingness to learn and an open mind towards life experiences different from their own. No special education, experience or background is needed.

who we are

About NM Kids Matter

New Mexico Kids Matter advocates for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering community volunteers to speak up for them in the foster care system. Our CASA Volunteers serve as a person they can count on for compassion, guidance, advocacy, and information.

Becoming a CASA will give you the tools to speak up for a child who’s been abused or neglected.
Imagine the experience of children who are removed from their homes because the people responsible for protecting them have not. These children find themselves in a world filled with social workers, lawyers, judges and courtrooms where life-altering decisions are made on their behalf.

CASA

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASAs are volunteers of all backgrounds who make a commitment to advocate for the needs of the child or sibling group with whom they are matched.

Why become a CASA?

As a CASA, you may well be the only consistent person in this child’s life, the only person who represents to the system what the child needs, and what is best for the child.

Volunteer

CASA is not your typical volunteer role. That’s okay. We’re not looking for typical volunteers!

Advocating for Them

NM Kids Matter

Of the children whose cases we helped close last year, 77% ended up reunited with family or living permanently with relatives, and 85% were in permanent homes.
